The Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives narrowly advanced President Donald Trump’s tax-and-spending bill early Thursday, clearing a key hurdle that allows the chamber to start a final vote on his signature legislation before his self-imposed July 4 deadline.

Several Republican holdouts finally relented and advanced Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill”—which includes an extension of his 2017 tax cuts and cuts funding for Medicaid—in a 219-213 vote.

Just after midnight Thursday, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that “FOR REPUBLICANS, THIS SHOULD BE AN EASY YES VOTE. RIDICULOUS!!!”

On Tuesday, the Senate voted 50-50 on the bill, with Vice President JD Vance casting the tiebreaking vote to pass it and send it to the House for consideration.
