Cricket-Focused Sports Stadiums : Major League Cricket

The LandTek Group has undertaken an ambitious project to adapt the Oakland Coliseum for Major League Cricket. This news marks a significant development in both sports infrastructure and cricket’s growing presence in the United States.

The LandTek Group is known for its expertise in athletic facility construction. The company is repurposing the historic stadium, which was traditionally used for baseball and football in the past. It is installing specialized cricket pitches originally created for the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in New York. These drop-in pitches are being transported over 2,900 miles from Long Island to California, where LandTek will collaborate with Australian groundskeeping experts to ensure the surfaces meet international standards for the upcoming Major League Cricket matches.

This initiative not only demonstrates innovative reuse of sports infrastructure but also supports cricket’s expansion ahead of its return to the Olympics in 2028.
