Cricket-Focused Sensory Rooms : specialized sensory room

Derbyshire County Cricket Club has enhanced its venue accessibility through the introduction of a specialized sensory room at The County Ground. The space was developed in collaboration with The Whistle Foundation.

The newly operational specialized sensory room is situated within the Pavilion area. It incorporates carefully designed elements such as fiber-optic lighting, tactile wall features, and comfortable seating to create a calming environment for attendees with sensory processing needs. With a capacity limited to four children accompanied by caregivers, the room prioritizes maintaining a tranquil atmosphere during matches.

Derbyshire County Cricket Club’s access-focused initiative represents the latest in a series of accessibility upgrades at the venue, following previous installations including wheelchair-accessible viewing areas and improved restroom facilities. These updates collectively position the club as a leader in inclusive sporting venues within English cricket.
