Kenvue Inc., the consumer health products maker (spinoff of Johnson & Johnson), released its annual Healthy Lives Mission Report, spotlighting major strides in sustainable packaging. In 2024 the company launched multiple packaging innovations across its iconic brands (which include Neutrogena, Listerine, and Tylenol). Key achievements include transitioning 69% of all packaging to be recyclable or refillable and cutting virgin plastic use by over 21%. For example, Nicorette lozenges revamped their packaging to use less material, OGX shampoo bottles were redesigned with 100% post-consumer recycled plastic, and Zyrtec allergy medicine switched from plastic blister packs to paper-based packs – eliminating an estimated 1.5 million pounds of plastic annually.

Kenvue’s report frames these changes under its ‘Healthy Planet’ pillar, demonstrating how sustainability is being embedded into product development and supply chain decisions. Leadership noted that improving packaging is central to meeting both consumer expectations and the firm’s 2025 goal for 100% recyclable or reusable packaging.
