Green Recycle has officially launched operations in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, marking a major milestone for the plastic recycling startup focused on industrial waste reduction. With an initial investment of $4.3 million, the company will transform an existing warehouse into a state-of-the-art facility aimed at converting industrial plastic waste into reusable raw materials. The project is expected to create 28 new jobs and recycle over 2,000 tons of plastic waste annually.
The new facility will produce post-industrial regrind, which will be sold for use in a wide range of products, from automotive components and construction materials to packaging and consumer goods. Green Recycle’s decision to choose Virginia over two other states followed extensive research and demonstrated the region’s appeal for sustainable industrial development.
In addition to support from local officials and economic development organizations, the project has received funding through the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund, the Tobacco Region Opportunity Fund, and the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
