After releasing to critical acclaim back in 2023, Planet of Lana is getting a sequel. Revealed as a part of the June Xbox Games Showcase, Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf will pick up where the first game left off, and follows Lana and Mui as they embark on an even greater adventure across the enchanting world of Novo.
After saving their home from a robot outbreak in the first game, Planet of Lana 2 sees Lana and her companion Mui take a deep dive into the history of Novo in an effort to uncover its mysterious past. What ensues is an adventure featuring a “deeper, longer story,” more challenging puzzles, and a touching story about the duo’s “unbreakable bond.”
Though Planet of Lana 2 will still retain the series’ signature side-scrolling gameplay, it seems as though the overall experience will be more fast-paced this go around. According to its Steam page, Planet of Lana 2 will contain more challenging action sequences that make use of Lana’s newly heightened agility. Whereas the first game focused largely on her puzzle-solving skills, Lana will now be able to wall jump and break into a slide while running to evade dangerous situations. Additionally, Planet of Lana 2 sees the series refine its stealth mechanics, making the entire adventure more tense and requiring a greater level of strategy.
Takeshi Furukawa, the critically acclaimed composer behind Planet of Lana, is confirmed to be returning for the sequel. It also showcases the same enchanting art as its predecessor, yet takes it a step further by introducing new environments such as underwater levels.
Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf is scheduled to release in 2026, and will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
