The Global Electronics Council (GEC) introduced a new Supplier Engagement Program (SEP) for its EPEAT® ecolabel, aiming to elevate sustainability across electronics manufacturing. The program provides training, tools, and a global resource platform to help component suppliers meet updated EPEAT environmental criteria and adopt responsible production practices. By equipping suppliers with guidance on topics such as material efficiency, chemical management, and circular design, GEC aims to accelerate sustainable product development in the IT hardware and consumer electronics sectors. Participants will also gain recognition for meeting program benchmarks and incentivizing supply chain partners to collaborate on reducing electronics’ environmental and social impacts.

This initiative stands to raise the ESG bar in the electronics industry. Manufacturers relying on EPEAT-certified supply chains can better ensure their products meet growing regulatory and customer sustainability expectations. In the long run, suppliers who invest in greener practices may become preferred partners, while those who lag behind risk losing business.
