Regenerative agriculture is at the heart of a new three-year pilot project launched by FrieslandCampina, Lidl, and ReGeNL across 30 Dutch dairy farms. This collaborative initiative aims to develop a standardized, open-access framework for regenerative practices that boost soil health, biodiversity, and long-term farm viability.

The pilot will assess methods such as herb-rich grasslands and rotational grazing, with a dual focus on ecological impact and economic feasibility. By supporting farmers with knowledge, guidance, and income security, the project addresses key barriers to adopting regenerative systems. Lidl’s funding and FrieslandCampina’s agricultural expertise will help farmers implement these practices effectively, while ReGeNL’s oversight ensures alignment with its goal of transitioning 1,000 farms to resilient agriculture by 2031.

As the pilot evolves, the results will inform scalable models that benefit the entire supply chain — from farmers to retailers — while contributing to a more sustainable food system.
