Voluntary AI Commitments : amazon responsible ai

Amazon is one of the world’s leading developers and deployers of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies through its AWS and other Amazon platforms. These tools have the potential to transform various domains and address some of humanity’s most challenging problems. However, these technologies also pose significant risks and challenges, such as bias, discrimination, privacy, security, and misuse. Therefore, Amazon is committed to developing fair and accurate AI and ML services and providing its customers with the tools and guidance needed to build AI and ML applications responsibly.

As part of its commitment, Amazon has joined President Biden and other leaders across government and industry to pledge to continue promoting the safe, secure, and transparent development of AI technology that benefits society. Amazon has also announced several voluntary commitments related to the responsible use of future generative AI models, which are more powerful than any currently released foundation models.

These commitments include testing for potential misuse, societal risks, and national security concerns; sharing information on trust and safety issues; enabling users to identify AI-generated content; investing in cybersecurity and insider threat safeguards; incentivizing third-party reporting of vulnerabilities; reporting model capabilities, limitations, and domains of appropriate use; prioritizing research on societal risks; and developing and deploying AI systems to help address society’s challenges.
