In response to the ongoing shift in consumer preferences, Diageo has been directing a great deal of attention towards fresh, seasonal flavors that reflect the demand for a more sustainable food system. The company has also been looking for ways to accommodate common food allergies and dietary restrictions, with products such as the new Baileys Almond Milk Liqueur.
Trend Hunter recently spoke with Simon Hooper of Diageo Canada about the kinds of cocktails Canadians will be sipping on this summer. Hooper notes that while Canadians have the luxury of enjoying food from all over the world, some of the best ingredients are those grown on home soil. Fresh ingredients such as Ontario-grown raspberries add the color, taste and vibrancy needed to turn any drink into a refreshing summer sipper. As Hooper explains, “I think that its really about drinking and eating as far as the seasons go and sticking to that because nothing tastes better than fresh ingredients, especially if its local.”
