A new partnership between Graymont and Fortera will see the companies integrate Fortera’s carbon mineralization process into Graymont’s global operations, enabling the production of low-carbon cement without the need for major equipment rebuilds. At the heart of the initiative is Fortera’s ‘ReCarb’ system, which transforms industrial CO₂ into ‘ReAct’ cement — a sustainable alternative meeting regulatory and performance standards.
Unlike traditional decarbonization approaches, ReCarb is designed as a bolt-on solution for existing cement and lime production lines, minimizing operational disruption. Fortera’s Redding, California facility has already proven the technology’s commercial viability, while Graymont’s expansive North American and Asia Pacific footprint offers a clear path to global scale. The collaboration aims to provide construction and infrastructure markets with high-performance cement that significantly reduces emissions while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
This partnership could accelerate the cement sector’s decarbonization by removing costly barriers to adoption. By leveraging Graymont’s established infrastructure and Fortera’s retrofit-ready technology, the companies are well-positioned to deliver scalable low-carbon solutions, potentially influencing global construction standards and strengthening both brands’ sustainability leadership.
