GEN CITY is the co-branded esports team launched jointly by global organisation Gen.G and Premier League club Manchester City. The team will represent both entities in FC Online tournaments, beginning with the FCP Champions Cup 2025 event in August. Gen.G entered 2025’s FC Online circuit with strong results, securing three tournament victories including the FC Pro Masters—where they overcame Advice ESPORTS in the Grand Final to earn $52,000 in prize money and qualification for the Champions Cup. This competitive venture formalises a partnership that began in 2023 and was extended through joint activations at the 2024 League of Legends World Championship under the GEN CITY name.

FC Online, developed by EA Spearhead and published across Asia by Nexon, Garena and Tencent since May 2018, is a free-to-play football title that ranked as the eighth most-popular esports game in the region in 2022. The title now operates under the FC Pro circuit alongside EA Sports FC following the conclusion of EA’s licensing agreement with FIFA in December 2022. The FC Online ecosystem has seen significant audience growth, with the Super Champions League Spring event earlier this year peaking at 102,670 viewers—making it the second most-watched FC Online tournament ever. Besides Gen.G, prominent Southeast Asian organisations such as T1, KT Rolster, Dplus and DRX also field competitive FC Online rosters.
