Architecture firm Order Matter has completed the design of the Raw House, which is a minimal apartment block created to shield itself from the busy Seoul streets in South Korea. The home is comprised of four rental apartments, a penthouse, and a cafe at the street level.
The name suggests that the material palette is made up of stone, timber, and concrete. Oliver Chiu, the founding director of the firm, wanted to open the block up on the south. This way, the traditional Korean idea of borrowing landscape would be brought into the Raw house. Chiu explains, “We wanted to offer residents an experience of nature not as a backdrop, but as a spatial and emotional presence.”
